Peter Finan
Retiring after 20 years of service at the college. Peter was the first house parent of Haygate house, he was also housemaster of Hazelveare House, co-ordinator of external visits and organiser of the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. He ran sailing projects and was a popular tutor. An enthusiastic teacher in the classroom. He reached high standards for external examination an an excellent colleague to the college staff.
Patti Sandham
Head of first year at Junior House. Approachable, sensitive and supportive, she was the one to whom both pupils and parents turned fo r support and she gave wise counsel. At Junior House, she was a rounders and netball coach and everything she did was done well - and that even applied to the Junior House Christmas Fayre and the staff charity raffles which were legendary.
Margaret Russell
Margaret had been part of the Bursary team for 27 years. Margaret had a wealth of knowledge, she had a direct approach, but she really got things done, no task was left unfinished. Margaret was feared by some but loved by all at LWC.
Tom Hicks
Tom joined LWC five years ago as an English Teacher. Appointed in charge of 6th form centre he organised many social events. Coaching both cricket and hockey, Tom is an excellent cricketer. A tutor Hazelveare House, he proved himself brave as he subjected himself to custard pies for the sake of Charity.
Leisa Chapple
An innovative and enthusiastic Science Teacher, Leisa worked to high standards and coordinated middle school gateway science. Supporting D of E Lesia was literally willing to go that extra mile and a support tutor too. She moved on to teach in Guilford.
Olga Pirotta
Olga Pirotta was Head o f Physics. Enthusiastic and committed, she worked hard to enthusethe students at LWC aboutPhysics. Visits and external
lectures were attended and a highly successfulhosting of the Wandsw orth Society, organised by Olga, culminated in a dinner for students and
guests w hich was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The external exam results o f th e Physics d e pa rtm e nt were o f an impressive standard with a record num ber o f A* at GCSE and a very good
standard at AS and A2.
Matthew Perriss
On arrival it was evident that Matt was going to be a great teacher. This could be seen in the faces of the students both in the class room and on the rugby field. He loved his subject, geography, and spent a considerable amount of time preparing interesting and stimulating lessons which captivated his class. He 'moonlighted ' for a year with the History department where his first hand knowledge of army matters was eagerly taken up by the boys.
On the rugby field Matt was a demanding and sympathetic coach who wanted his team to give of their best all times.
Ron Campbell
In the time Ron has been with us, his wide contribution has been immense. He has not only patiently dealt with the varied administrative demands of the contingent with great efficiency; he has also been involved in all aspects of training and has brought much imagination and experience to the contingent from his military roots in the Physical Training Corps.
Jackie Bray
Jackie Bray, a Science Technician, m oves on to take up a supervisory position in a school in Farnham. In her time with us she was always willing to help in anyway she could and was always cheerful, positive and cooperative.
Peter Driver
This year saw the retirement of Peter Driver a popular member of the Estates team at LWC. Peter was involved in many of the improvement projects carried out by the m aintenance team over the last ten years and his large repertoire of skills as a carpenter -joiner will be greatly missed. One of Peter's leaving gifts from staff was a champagne balloon flight over the Hampshire countryside which was a great thrill to him and was enjoyed by all his family.
Jacqui Hinds
Jacqui taught Latin to the younger years at LWC and Classical Civilisation to the Sixth Form. She has added great depth to the Department in terms both of subject know ledge and teaching styles. She has been instrumental in inspiring young students to take their studies of Latin further.
Beth Anderson
Beth joined the MFL department in September. She studied languages at Kingston University, Surrey, and spent a year at universities in Nancy and in Cadiz. She completed her PGCE at the University of Southampton and taught at Wildern School and Hampshire Collegiate School.
