In 1974 edition ‘The Sower' reported about a Fifteen year project on Forestry .. and that Canal restoration can actually be an industrious way to spend a Sunday.
After fifteen years of hard work by students, the forestry project at last were able to supply the college farm 'a few thinnings from our first plantation for use as fencing posts—a token offering to indicate that after 15 years' work our crop is beginning to come to harvest'
In the same edition it also reported that 12 boys had helped with ‘towpath clearance, damming and bridge repairs on the Basingstoke Canal, which enabled Crookham-Greywell stretch clear and, hopefully, ready for the dredger this July’.
