In 1965, The Sower reported on a promising Under Thirteen XV Rugby Team.
The editorial and picture suggested that they may be the future first XV Rugby team.
The archives show that not only did the team became the first XV in 1970, but some of the team won colours for the matches they played in, which included inter-house rugby. Also,in the same year Philip Bradshaw , Bernard Land and James Marshall became prefects of the school, all members of that original under thirteen team in 1965.
