Robert

Robert Fitzgerald

Arrived as Head of Music in September 2000; the year the new Music and Drama Centre opened. When he left, over half of all students in the college were having instrumental lessons. He set up the Camerata (string orchestra), the Concert Band and reformed the college's choirs.  During his time at LWC, three
students gained places to study Music at Oxford, four received choral awards and one an organ scholarship to various colleges in Oxbridge.
Robert was also a tutor in School House and was best remembered by his tutor group for their numerous trips to theme parks.

Quentin and Nicola Sands

Quentin Sands was a key figure in the College as Head of Drama. Perhaps best be remembered for his deep and meaningful production of “Oedipus” and the highly success ful junior Drama days.

Quentin shared his love of cycling with the students by organising the Land’s End to LWC cycle ride in aid of charity.

Nicola made a significant contribution to the modern languages department.

Stuart MacAlpine

Stuart was a inspirational teacher in the English Department as well as taking an active role in the life of Hazelveare as a resident
tutor.
Despite his advocacy of Mac supremacy, Stuart succeeded in setting up accessible collective resourcing and planning for the English Department. He also impressed pupils with integrated IT- English lessons, an armchair in the class room and original paintings on the walls.
Before leaving LWC, he married the love of his life, Francesca, and carried her over the threshold of Hazelcroft - a daring move.
They move on to Sevenoaks

Lucy Grieve

Lucy read Literae Humaniores at Wadham College, Oxford. Still avid for more, she went
on to research the Voting Assemblies of the Roman Republic, eventually publishing articles on various aspects of my field. Happily, these
were not all relegated to dusty shelves of the Bodleian as at least one remains on the Oxford
University reading list.

Following a time of performing and teaching music, she did a PGCE in Classics, and eventually came on to LWC.
She moves on to become Head of Classics at Sutton High School.
